Week in Review 2024 – 07/19

Energy

How are you doing for energy? If you are like me, then your energy waxes and wanes. Seems mine does more waning these days. One lesson I have learned is not to push through exhaustion. I either do something mindless or simply rest up to recharge.

Rainbow Scrap Challenge

Three cheers for the Rainbow Scrap Challenge. Despite having challenge in its name, I find it a great way to recharge my energy. The block I chose for 2024 is simple to execute. I have a blueprint to follow. In other words, very little thinking is required and the techniques are easy.

The latest blueprint for my 2024 RSC quilt.

This week I finished all 40 of the blocks listed at the top left hand corner of the blueprint. Next week I will tackle the 4 green blocks I inadvertently missed when green was the color.

Another way I derive energy is by seeing how far I have come versus how few blocks remain. Most of those blocks are partially completed, too.

Having fun following a section of my blueprint to using some of the turquoise blocks.

In fact, I finally have enough blocks completed to lay out a section of the quilt. That’s the good news. The bad news, my black and white fabric stash is nearly depleted. It may or may not be sufficient to finish the quilt. Oh wait! That might be good news. Since I didn’t have sufficient energy to move on to a new art quilt, I did some black and white fabric shopping therapy.
