Full Speed Ahead

The View to the Right As You Walk in the Door

It’s full speed ahead for me and the Senior Executive Director of Studio Operations (aka my husband) as we prepare for this weekend’s open studio. Anyone visiting will be greeted by art as they walk in the front door.

The Built in China Cabinet in Our Dining Room

Everyone Runs to the View

We are fortunate to live in a home with a large open living space. When you enter our house you see across the living room and into dining room. Everyone is drawn to the the view at the opposite side of the space. We sit atop a hill overlooking a salt marsh across the street. No surprise most visitors rush to look out the sliding glass doors and admire the view. The built in china cabinet with interior lighting is a perfect place to display Beach Stroll.

I’m Watching You – 12″ x 12″

I managed to finish I’m Watching You early this week. Felt like I was working at warp speed on this one. I’m pleased with how it turned out. It looks great hanging on a small wall by the glass slider.

The Upstairs and Downstairs of Our Home

But Stroll Up the Stairs

After the view is absorbed it is time to check out my studio. I guide people upstairs. Art lines the stairway, graces the studio and hangs from the partial wall facing the entrance. If you look closely you can see my two sewing machines, large work table, a hint of the design wall and the pegboard where I hang tools and large spools of thread.

Cohasset Open Studios is Saturday, November 5 and Sunday, November 6 from noon to 4 pm. If you live in the Boston area please drop by. Rumor has it there will be home baked cookies and hot cider.

Rainbow Scrap Challenge

My 2022 Rainbow Scrap Challenge top is done!

My 2022 Rainbow Scrap Challenge top is done. It’s hanging on the design wall. Next month I need to decide how to quilt it.

    1. Thank you, Margaret. It is fun to give our home an art face lift. The weather is unseasonably perfect, just beckoning for everyone to get out and about. So, I’m cautiously optimistic we will have a strong showing.

  1. Hi Gwyned, good luck with the open studio – your house with your art looks lovely. I love the change in values of your rainbow scrap challenge quilt top. Looking forward to seeing how you quilt it. Have a great weekend!

    1. Thank you for your kind wishes, Andrée. Still have a few more things to place around the house. I expect my visitors will enjoy seeing and hearing about the RSC flimsy. How can you go wrong with those colors, right?

  2. Love how you have displayed all your artwork on the walls. Beautiful. I’m watching you turned out lovley. Have fun finishing your RSC quilt.

    1. Would you believe the built-in china cabinet was used by the previous owners for a wide screen TV and they were art collectors? I love seeing other peoples studios and set ups, so thought this would be a good time to share mine. 🙂 Glad you enjoyed it. Looking forward to second and final day of my open studio. Thanks for the well wishes and enthusiasm.

  3. You have outdone your self. Your art looks fabulous throughout the house. And I love your kitty quilt. Just stunning! I hope you get a good turnout for the Open Studio.

    1. Norma, coming from you, a hostess who goes above and beyond, this means a lot. I’m always blown away by the decor you put together for gatherings. It was a beautiful weekend and strong turnout, especially on Sunday afternoon.

  4. Thanks for stopping by my blog! I got started on stitching my collection of deep browns together last night. Now I need to decide how many more I will need for November’s TABLE SCRAPS Challenge project. You did a fabulous job on that cat quilt and your RSC quilt top is spectacular!
