Musing
I am musing. This is a state I frequently find myself in. Sometimes my musings are working how out to gather family with divergent interests, schedules, ages and locales. However, for the purpose of this post, my musings are on my current art projects.
Ceil de Noyer

One reason I find myself musing is I tend to start off with a simple idea, but invariably I am not satisfied. Something niggles at me. Then my mind thinks of ways to amp up the design. So it is with Ciel de Noyer.

A sane person might stop with Ciel de Noyer once the piecing is done. Not me. The more I looked the more dissatisfied I was with the piece. It seemed to be missing that je ne sais quoi. Then bam, it hit me. Why not add a hot air balloon.

The above image is my testing the theory through the wonders of Photoshop. I’ll simplify the balloon a tad by eliminating the people and flames. If you were musing on how to add interest to Ciel de Noyer, what would you do to make it pop?
Rainbow Scrap Challenge
I am playing catch up with my 2024 Rainbow Scrap Challenge quilt. I am determined to plow forward, though. My plan is to at least have it pieced in time for my annual open studio the first weekend in November. Last week I shared my orange crumb fabric.

This week I began using that fabric to make the necessary orange blocks. I love how crumb fabric produces some very intricately appearing half square triangles. Imagine trying to piece each of those individually. Yikes!
